A large wood-fired grill in the middle of an open kitchen is the centrepiece of this stylish, 94 seat restaurant which overlooks the lake near Waterhead. All of the meat and much of the fish is cooked on the hardwood embers, ’making for a genuine wood-fired dining experience,’ says the Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa.

Sirloin steak, fillet steak, ribeye steak, lamb chops, Chateaubriand, wood-fired chicken breasts, Dover sole, wood-fired salmon, whole lobster, the Blue Smoke burger, Blue Smoke spicy beans and wood-fired chicken breast are some of the possibilities for main courses at dinner. Many of these dishes are available at lunchtime as well.

The restaurant comprises several different areas, including one where you’re closest to the cooking action, another called the Rum and Bourbon Room - which can be used for group gatherings - and a couple of other parts nearer the lake.

A wood-fired afternoon tea is also available, ‘four tiers of delicious, mouth watering Blue Smoke on the Bay goodness’. The tea features dishes such as loaded nachos, toasted brisket sandwiches, wood-fired strawberries and flamed lemon meringue pie, placed on a taster plate and served on a four tier skillet stand.
