More places to stay in Grasmere, Hawkshead and Coniston

Coniston Water. Bank Ground Farm. B&B/Self-catering. Located on the east side of the lake, the farm has six bedrooms for B&B and six self-catering cottages. Bank Ground has a strong association with Arthur Ransome’s book Swallows and Amazons. There’s a tearoom here as well.

Grasmere. Glenthorne Guest House and Conference Centre. B&B. A five minute walk from the centre of the village brings you to Glenthorne with its’ Quaker values and ethos’. Single, twin, double and family rooms - some rooms on the ground floor - are ‘simply and comfortably furnished’.

Grasmere. Raise View House. B&B. Considering the number of B&Bs there are in the Lake District, it was some accolade for five bedroom Raise View House to win B&B of the Year at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2018. But the award merely confirmed what many returning guests feel, that this is a wonderful place to stay, with a warm welcome and great views of the surrounding fells.

Great Langdale. Great Langdale campsite. Camping. Wake up to Bowfell and the Langdale Pikes at this wonderfully located, National Trust campsite at the head of Great Langdale. Over 100 places for tents, some space for motorhomes and camper vans, plus yurts, tipis and wooden camping pods.

near Hawkshead. Yewfield. B&B. A vegetarian guest house since 1993, Yewfield is close to one of Lakeland’s best known beauty spots (Tarn Hows) and has glorious views across the Vale of Esthwaite. There’s a calm and cultured air about the five star establishment, a Steinway piano in the spacious and elegant lounge and 13 bedrooms. It’s in the same family ownership as Ambleside Manor.

Rydal. Rydal Mount. B&B. Spend the night at William Wordsworth’s home of 37 years. Check in first to nearby Rydal Lodge Country House B&B (to pre-order your breakfast) and then make your way to Rydal Mount for a tour of the house and gardens. Sleep in a four poster bed. ‘The Wordsworth Experience’ is only available for one night stays.
