Beer. Great Corby Brewhouse

From the first pint brewed in a small village near Carlisle in 2009, beers from Great Corby Brewhouse are now savoured all over Cumbria and beyond. Corby Blonde is probably the best known of its range but there are plenty of other beers such as Lakeland Summit, Mandarina IPA, Corby Ale and Coffee Milk Stout.

The arch on the ‘small batch brewed’ logo of the brewery is a sign of where things started, a forge built in the 1830s and used originally by blacksmiths working for the village and the local castle. Today the beers are produced across the road in a former honey factory, right next door to the Queen Inn, the local pub.

’We like to think that our beers will engage you in a complex tale of Cumbrian tradition and heritage with tangible, contemporary notes thrown in for flavour. Cumbrian craft and innovation is in our heart, our beers brewed with passion and pride from grain to glass,’ says the brewery.

In addition to its core range, Great Corby Brewhouse has - over the last year or so - also produced a number of seasonal and special ales: Yakima Valley to celebrate its 200th brew in October 2021, Youlet a few months later at Christmas, Centurion in honour of the 1,900th anniversary of the building of Hadrian’s Wall and Cockatrice in spring 2022, the beer based on a legend from the village of Renwick in the Eden Valley.

Bottling of beers began in 2020 which means that wherever you are in the country, a taste of Corby Ale, Tizzie Whizie, Fox Brown Ale, Signal Peak and other Great Corby ales can be delivered to your doorstep.
