Vodka. Kin Toffee Vodka

Warming in winter, soothing in summer, Kin Toffee Vodka is a drink for all seasons. ‘A smooth blended vodka with rich caramel tones and a subtle kick,’ is how Judith Wren describes the spirit which she launched at Christmas 2013.

Three years later she was named Producer of the Year at the Cumbria Life Food and Drink Awards, in 2017 she was Booths’ Local Producer of the Year and then in 2018 her company was judged Best Rural Drinks Business at the Rural Business Awards North.

Another of Judith’s products is Kin Toffee Apple Vodka, its ‘inspired blend' of the award winning toffee vodka with rosy, zingy apple flavours proving to be extremely popular with customers. It can be mulled or drunk with ice.

Apart from its flavour, that popularity may have something to do with Judith’s catchy postings on Instagram and her regular appearances at food markets and food festivals in Cumbria.

Something else she can be proud of are the bottles she has used since early 2021, all made in the UK from 50 per cent recycled glass. ‘They're slightly taller and more elegant than the original ones, and really represent the Kin brand and the story behind it…drawing inspiration from Lakeland’s scenery, the landscape and the stars,’ she says.

Judith first tasted a variation of toffee vodka while on skiing holidays in France where it was served as a warming spirit. Over time she created her own recipe, tried it on family and friends - kith and kin - and then started making the vodka in small batches at a production unit close to Windermere. An outline of the Langdale Fells on the bottle’s label is a reminder of its Lake District credentials.

Kin Vodka: The toffee vodka and toffee apple vodka are available online and at many places in Cumbria including Booths stores, Cranstons food halls, Tebay Services on the M6 and Low Sizergh Barn Farm Shop near Kendal. Kin chocolate truffles, Kin glasses and shot glasses, Kin candles and Kin Toffee Vodka gift boxes are sold as well.
